Left Behind Books Review
Most of us have seen the movies and read the books where some major disaster is affecting the planet earth, causing panic and destruction and everyone to say it is the end of the world. Maybe an asteroid is going to crash into earth, causing the oceans to rise up and swallow entire cities. Maybe the earth’s core overheats and causes the grounds to rip apart and rise up, swallowing everything in its path. All of these stories are fictional and all have one thing in common: they thrive on fear and the thought that the end of the world is coming.
The bible, or the Book of Revelations, has been talking of the end of the world for decades. It talks of the coming of the anti-Christ, a person or being that will become the leader of the world, rising to power and then destroying everything in its path. It talks of Christ’s second coming where he comes down to earth and saves all Christians by removing them from the anti-Christ’s death and destruction here on earth. Whether these events are fact or fiction remains to be seen in the future.
The one series of books that is based upon these facts or fiction is the best selling Christian prophecy book series, Left Behind. Not only are there 16 books within this revealing well written series but there are also at least 2 movies based on the first few books, starring Kirk Cameron, a well known actor from the 1980’s sitcom Growing Pains. These books follow Kirk’s character and others as they watch Christian’s all around them disappear into thin air, leaving their worldly possessions behind as they are taken to heaven, out of harms way. They describe how the main characters develop from non-believing humans into believing the Rapture is really here and they make attempts to help save their fellow human beings from the anti-Christ and his destruction.
They are written in such a way that they will appeal to Christians and non Christians alike, since they are packed full with drama, action, and romance as well, all while telling a crucial story of how the rapture may come to pass.
